Yitzhak studied in a yeshiva. He joined “Tze’irei Hamizrahi” and the “Bnei Akiva” movement. In 1939 he was elected to the national leadership of “Bnei Akiva” and engaged in the establishment of new kenim of the movement in Slovakia. In 1942, after the proclamation of an independent Slovakia, Yitzhak served in the Sered labor camp. In 1943 he fled to Budapest and joined comrades of the movement working for the underground. Yitzhak worked in the Eretz-Israel Office in Budapest in the Youth Department and organized aliya to Eretz Israel (Palestine). He helped rescue his comrades who had remained in Slovakia. Yitzhak participated in the proceedings of the Eretz Israel Office managed by Moshe Krausz.
In 1944 Yitzhak left Hungary with a certificate and was on his way to Eretz Israel (Palestine). He was delayed in Ankara and took part in the deliberations of the Relief and Rescue Committee that was working for the recruitment of European Jews for the rescue of the remaining refugees.
When Yitzhak arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine), he met with the leaders of “Hapoel Hamizrahi” in order to convince them to take part in the rescue of European Jewry. He fought as a private soldier in the War of Independence. He worked for many years as a printer.
